Student Short-Term Loan (STL) and Textbook Lending- Student Services and Enrollment Management
Textbook lending—If a student does not have financial aid available, they may borrow textbooks from the SS and EM Lending Library if we have the needed book. Students with financial aid awards are expected to purchase course materials using their financial aid balance. If financial aid is awarded to their account, they may charge the campus bookstore after registering for courses until the cutoff date. At this point, the student must wait for their financial aid dispersal.
Short-term loan (STL) as needed for course-affiliated expenses. For example, if the student needs to pay for a course code or a certification exam, we will set up an STL, and a hold will be placed on the student's account.
A short-term loan (STL) for tuition if Financial Aid is pending. For example, the student completes a Promissory note to keep their classes if they are waiting for their FAFSA to be processed and aid to be awarded. The STL will be deducted from the student’s Financial Aid dispersal and repaid to SS and EM. If the student is not awarded financial aid, they must repay the amount listed in the STL per the repayment schedule established in the Promissory Note.
A short-term loan for tuition if the student cannot afford the upfront cost of the payment plan. The student signs a promissory note listing the cost of tuition. The student must make a down payment on the classes and bring the receipt to SS and EM. The student repays the tuition over the term and must pay the balance before registering for their next classes.
This fund will not pay for other expenses, such as rent, utilities, and car expenses.
To request textbook lending or a short-term loan, the student should email wendy.fettig@templejc.edu or shannon.bralley@templejc.edu.
