Huntington and Earthquake

Huntington Story

Janice Jones, a 53 year old women who made it out alive in the Huntington incident, was it her dogs fault who causes this incident?

Tammy Rye, an officer part of the California Highway Patrol said, “It could have been worse and the bullet hit two inches from the gas tank.”

According to Rye, Jones was eating her pork chops in the back of her motor home that was parked on Beach Boulevard close to Highway 1. Her dog bumped into the seat her handgun was sitting on and once it hit the floor, the weapon discharged and a bullet flew through Jones leg and through the side of a vehicle.

Rye said that Jones right leg was shot around 10 pm on a Wednesday.

She was transported to the Huntington Beach Hospital then late transported to Irvine Medical Center, Rye said. A spokesperson for Huntington Beach Hospital named Jim Washington established that Jones was carefully treated.

Tombo, the name of Jones Pomeranian dog, was put into the care of the Huntington Beach Animal Control Officers.

Janet Ngo, one of the animal control officers says that Tombo appeared to be well malnourished and a little less abuse and some more pork chops, he should be okay.”

She suggested to the officers to press charges against Jones for animal abuse.

Rye stated that the county's district attorney's office was thinking about whether to charge her for the gun accident. Rye even said that Jones didn't have a permit for the gun and still doesn't have a permit.

Earthquake Story

At 8:12 am, an earthquake struck through the San Francisco Bay area on Monday morning. It killed 2 people and injuring 6 with many building destroyed including a building housing Mchenry's Auto Supply.

A public information officer from the Hayward Fire Department named Jennifer Vu said "The names of the dead will be withheld pending notifications if families."

People like Mike Beamer who lives across the street from McHenry's was saying he felt the rolling motion and that it lasted for about 30 seconds and a big jolt coming in the middle.

“I was eating my breakfast when the room started rolling. I dove under the table just as I heard an explosion outside and a chunk of cement flew through my kitchen window. That’s when the screaming start across the street.” That's what Mike Beamer said.

The Hayward firefighters stabilized the auto shop building using ropes and conducted a search and found a gas leak.

A scientist from the U.S. Geological Survey in Menlo Park, Penny Gertz said that "The epicenter of the earthquake, which had a magnitude of 6.4 on the Richter scale, was under the Hayward Hills."

Penny is that it was a stronger earthquake then the ones they would usually experience so it collapsed more building and caused more panic.

"21 fire personnel, 12 police and five American Red Cross workers responded to the building collapse, some of them came 4 minutes of the earthquake," Said Vu.

Three of the six people injured were seriously hurt from this atrocious accident, they had to be transported to the Hayward General Hospital because of the injuries the building caused. Vu stated that there were no other serious injuries were being reported.

Gertz said, "People from all the way from south Los Angeles and north Redding all felt the shake from the earthquake."

In case of earthquakes like this, you should study for what to do to guarantee that you won't get hurt like how others did. It's best to stay away from objects that can easily hurt you and staying away from places where there are more buildings around you.

"Next time I am going to be prepared and be ready for the next horrible earthquake that happens here in San Fransisco." Said Beamer.
