The Liturgical Year

At St Philomena's Catholic High School, the students are aware of the many events and feast days which are celebrated throughout the Liturgical year. The students celebrate the Liturgical year throughout Prayer and Liturgy.
Liturgical Colours
  • Green: Ordinary time (Symbolising hope, eternal life, Holy Spirit)
  • Purple: Lent and Advent; Reconciliation; Funerals (Penance)
  • White: Christmas and Easter; Feasts of Our Lord, Mary and the Saints who were not Martyrs; weddings and funerals; Confirmation (Purity, joy, triumph)
  • Red: Feast of Our Lord’s Passion; Palm Sunday; Feasts of Martyrs and Pentecost (Passion, blood, fire, God’s love, martyrdom)
  • Gold: (Joy)

Each week we have a new 'Theme of the Week' based in and around the liturgical calendar  which forms the basis of our daily prayer. Daily prayers are prayed by each tutor group four mornings a week.

Each year group meets weekly for their collective worship assembly.

If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you.
