19.06.25 Geography
We explored Google Maps today and found some familiar places. We found school on the map and had a go at drawing our own birds-eye view maps!
12.6.25 History
The children have been learning about Nellie Bly today - she was a famous journalist who travelled round the world on a boat and a steam train. We talked about which modes of transport we might have used in the past and which we use now, in the present.
13.3.25 SCIENCE DAY
What a super science day with Mrs Bunney the children had! They carried out lots of investigations and experiments throughout the day.
12.3.25 MInibeast Hunt
This morning we went on a minibeast hunt in the outdoor area. We found some worms, a centipede and a woodlouse. We bought them back to the classroom and studied them using the camera on the class whiteboard.
26.2.25 Geography - Home or Away
Today in Geography we learnt about where we lived. We learnt that we lived in the United Kingdom and found this on Google maps. We thought of features in Chesterfield (our school, the Crooked Spire, the train station, supermarkets!) and found these on Google maps. the children then used the iPads to explore and find features in Chesterfield themselves.
6.2.25 Science - Magnets
The children have really enjoyed exploring magnets today - they used the words "attract" and "repel" and found which objects were magnetic or non-magnetic.
3.2.25 Bird Hunt
Today we went on a bird hunt with Mrs Bunney to see what birds we could see in the school environment.
31.01.25 Chinese New Year
The children have enjoyed learning about Chinese New Year - Year of the Snake. We watched some videos of the Dragon Dance and had a look at where China was.
We tasted some noodles, vegetables and prawn crackers this afternoon.
14.10.24 Nature in our school grounds
In our Geography session tis afternoon we explored the outdoor area of our school. The children collected natural objects discussing what they felt like and noises they made. We then bought what we had found back to the classroom to explore it further!
3.10.24 Science
Following on from our visit from baby Freddie last week, we have been talking about growing up. We discussed what babies and children could do and what they still needed to learn. The children came up with some great ideas!
