Hope in Christ

We looked ahead to the 29th Sunday in Ordinary Time (Year C) this week and celebrated the theme of hopefulness. In this weekend's Gospel, Jesus shares the parable of the corrupt judge - he has no fear of God or man but does eventually yield to the persistent requests of a widow seeking justice. Her hopefulness is rewarded.

Jesus explains that, if corrupt people eventually respond to the persistence of justice, how much more swiftly will God respond when we call on him. We must remain steadfast and hopeful in our prayers. In the same way, we have been insistent with the children this week that our hope in them means that they can achieve more and feel even prouder when they persist in their learning and give challenging tasks another go.
