Year 3 began their new RE Topic about Visitors this week, and were very lucky to be treated to a visitor themselves - Scott, a Seminarian! Whilst learning about the Jesse Tree, Year 3 worked their way around a carousel of activities about different Bible stories from the Old Testament.
The children worked as a class to draw their own version of the Creation story, with a different picture for each day, and had a lot of fun as a year group thinking of different pairs of animals to add to Noah's Ark. In their groups, they re-enacted the story of Adam and Eve and reflected upon what they might do in a similar situation, and they thought about what it feels like to have to wait a long time for something, just like Abraham. On their own, they took some time to think about their own family trees, and enjoyed discussing their grandparents and even great-grandparents. They also had some quiet time thinking about John the Baptist, with an opportunity to write a sorry note to someone and have a 'fresh start', just like those who are baptised.
Scott really helped the children to bring the stories to life with his wealth of knowledge and engaging discussions.
Back in class, the children created their own baubles depicting a Bible story, which was put on the class Jesse Tree. They are a beautiful addition to each of the Year 3 classrooms, and a wonderful reminder to remain faithful to God, even in the most trying times.
