Week of December 8-12, 2025
RELIGION: The children will learn about making good choices. We will talk about Mary and her choice to say yes to God. We will talk about how Mary will help them to make good choices and we will learn the words to the Hail Mary. We will continue to focus on kindness and use our interactive Advent tree to practice acts of kindness daily.
MATH: The children will be introduced to 3D shapes and their attributes. We will connect these 3D shapes to real world objects. We will continue to practice identifying the numbers 1-10. The children will continue to practice the concept of addition as putting together and adding to by using manipulatives and visual materials within 5.
LANGUAGE ARTS: This week we will talk about what people use to be able to do their jobs.. The letter of the week is Oo. The children will practice identifying the initial and final sounds in words. We will be working on the words of, for, have. Finally, we will be identifying and using adjectives in our writing. Please continue to review word lists nightly.
SOCIAL STUDIES and SCIENCE: Holiday Traditions and December Over the next two weeks, we will be learning about traditions through stories, crafts, and discussions. The children will develop an appreciation for diversity and build a better understanding of the world. Lastly, we will talk about receiving gifts and giving gifts.

RELIGION: The children will share ways that their family prepares for Christmas, and we will identify Christmas as the celebration of the birth of Jesus. We will be talking about how we prepare our hearts, during the season of Advent, for the birth of Jesus.
MATH: The children will begin to understand the relationship between numbers and quantities. We will continue to practice identifying the numbers 1-10. This week, the children will start to understand the concept of addition as putting together and adding to by using manipulatives and visual materials within 5.
LANGUAGE ARTS: This week we will talk about the different places we go to during the week. The letter of the week is Cc. The children will practice identifying the initial and final sounds in words. We will be working on the words little, she, was. Finally, we will be practicing identifying rhyming word pairs. Please continue to review word lists nightly.
SOCIAL STUDIES:Time Students will understand calendar time. Students will use words and phrases related to chronology and time.

RELIGION: The children will learn about verbal and nonverbal communication. They will experience prayer as talking to God. We will discuss the meaning of “Amen” and understand that we can pray anytime in different ways.
MATH: The children will begin to understand the relationship between numbers and quantities. We will continue to practice identifying the numbers 1-10. The children will learn how to use a ten frame, tally marks, and a number line to represent the numbers 1-10. We will be estimating the weight of a pumpkin and count how many seeds are inside.
LANGUAGE ARTS: This week we will talk about how baby animals move. The letter of the week is Aa. The children will practice identifying the initial and final sounds in words. I will begin to discuss what a noun is and that all proper nouns start with a capital letter. We will be working on the word go. Finally, the children will be bringing home a decodable book to read to you on Wednesday night and then to be returned on the following day.

SCIENCE: Stages of the Pumpkin Life Cycle I will be reading several books about the life cycle of the pumpkin. We will then integrate science with math by estimating the weight of a large pumpkin and how many seeds are inside. Finally, the children will weigh the pumpkin and count the seeds inside of the pumpkin.

Week of September 29th-October 3rd:
RELIGION: The children will see creation as a gift of God’s love. They will become familiar with St. Francis, St. Teresa, and The Feast of the Guardian Angel.
MATH: We will be working on identifying, showing, and drawing groups of objects and the numbers 0-5. The children will orally practice counting by 1s to 100. We will be working on identifying ordinals first-fifth. I will be introducing the numbers 6-10.
LANGUAGE ARTS: We are focusing on one letter each day through fun and engaging activities. Last week we completed the letters Qq-Uu, and this week we will be working with the letters Vv-Zz. The children will be sorting and tracing letters, adding to their alphabet booklet, and participating in a variety of other letter activities. We will be learning the new sight words: a, like. List #2 will be sent home on 9/29 for your child to practice at home.
SOCIAL STUDIES: Fall We will be discussing the changes in weather during fall and identify the colors the leaves change. Finally, we will talk about activities the children do in the fall, such as apple picking and pumpkin picking.
SCIENCE: Germs The children will learn that germs can spread easily and make us sick, but can be prevented with good hygiene like washing hands and covering coughs.

MATH: We will be working on recognizing, creating, and extending repeating patterns of shapes and I will introduce the numbers 0 to 4.
LANGUAGE ARTS: We are focusing on one letter each day through fun and engaging activities. Last week we completed the letters Gg-Kk, and this week we will be working with the letters Ll-Pp. The children will be sorting and tracing letters, adding to their alphabet booklet, and participating in a variety of other letter activities. We will be learning 2 new sight words: the,we. SOCIAL STUDIES: Where Do You Live?:The children will understand that they can describe where they live in different ways. We will talk about knowing their phone number, address, city, and state.
