Zoom is not a fully-fledged video host in the way that NYU Stream and YouTube are. You will not be able to upload existing videos to Zoom to share them with other people, and you cannot embed videos from Zoom onto other web pages.
However, when you record video with Zoom, it is the default host for those videos, so it's important to understand how to share video from Loom or download your video to share it elsewhere.
Note:
NYU's version of Zoom only supports cloud recording, which is what we'll discuss here.
One of the limitations of Zoom as a video host is that it does not support embedding your video into other sites. There are two ways for you to share recordings in Zoom:
Share a direct link to the Zoom video page
Download the video so you can re-upload it to as more fully featured video platform like NYU Stream or YouTube.
If you've used Zoom's Brightspace integration in the past to record class sessions, this will work a little differently. Recordings you've made on your own won't automatically appear in Brightspace. You'll need to get the link to the video on your own.
One counter-intuitive element of using Zoom is that you won't find every setting you need in the same place.
You will join calls and make recordings with the Zoom Desktop Client-- the piece of software you install on your computer.
You will access recordings and change some settings at the Zoom Web Portal on nyu.zoom.us.
Once you've logged on to nyu.zoom.us, Watch a video walkthrough of how to share a link to your Zoom recording.
If you want to embed the video directly in a course site, you'll need to first download your recording from Zoom to your computer. Once you have a local version of the file, you can re-upload it to the service of your choice.
Watch here to see how to download your Zoom recordings.
For instructions on uploading your video to other services, see our respective pages on NYU Stream and YouTube.
