The site of Knossos is truly a remarkable one, with its long and varied history providing modern day researchers with an insight into how ancient civilizations lived and built their homes. It’s no wonder this site has captivated archaeologists and historians alike for centuries. Our students carried out extensive research on the different aspects of this site and reproduced its unique examples of art and craftmanship by using a variety of material and techniques: paintings, mosaics, terracotta and fabrics are some examples.
Three archaeological sites we selected from the priceless historical riches of our country were processed by our students using recycled materials and worked as a model close to the real one. Zeugma Göbekli Tepe, Mount Nemrut and Cappadocia. It is great to see that our students internalize the fact that keeping the tangible and intangible values of societies promotes cultural sustainability.
Our students from three different classes (2022-2023) explored the beauties of Villa Bruno, one of the most beautiful Vesuvian Villas in S. Giorgio a Cremano. This activity started over one year ago when our students took part to a national project called "Nao to Know" along with 43 Italian Schools. For this project founded by EU our students worked with the robot NAO: they visited the site, created the scripts and instructed NAO to act as a guide of this precious Historical site. This year, thanks to the Erasmus+ funding, our students from class 2A built on the previous experience creating an interactive image from which users can view five different videos. Each video, recorded in Italian and subtitled in English, explains the different beauties that can be visited in Villa Bruno. Our students really enjoyed learning about Villa Bruno along with our NAO. Thanks to the Story Telling activity carried out as part of Erasmus+ project, this experience is now available and immediately accessible to everyone.
This activity was inspired by the Global Goal n.11 of 2030 Agenda “Sustainable cities and communities”, and was aimed to let our students explore heritage treasures available in pur area. For this activity we choose the National Museum of Locomotives in Pietrarsa, a site that is strictly linked to the economical growth of out region and is of great importance for our community. Our students from class 3C (2022-2023) carried out research on this site, visited it, prepared a presentation and collaborated to the creation of a multiverse on the Spatial platform. Here, their work, along with games, videos, links to coding environments, is available for users who want to explore in an interactive way Pietrarsa. During our mobility in Italy, this platform was used for a workshop that involved Italian students, partner students and teachers. Following a presentation of this special site given by Italian pupils, all students and teachers entered the multiverse an played together in this digital environment. This was a good ice-breaking activity and was a good preparation for the outcome of the mobility.
Our students from class 2A (2022-2023) carried out extensive research on the Archaeological site of Herculaneum. They visited the site and with the help of a local guide, learned about life and habits of the Roman community that lived here 2000 years ago. Following the visit, they prepared a comprehensive brochure that was handed to our guests during the project mobility in Italy. Students also prepared quiz games and a maxi jigsaw that were used during the workshop in presence with the partner schools. Both the brochure and the workshop were a great opportunity for our guests to learn while playing about this unique place that they visited during the following days of the mobility.
