Our sustainable hub

TAKE A LOOK AT OUR PICTURE BOOK

A sustainable world needs beauty, a concept that inspires people’s behaviour, leading them to be the best possible version of themselves. Within this activity children will have the possibility to experience directly all this by adopting a piece of their schools and transforming it. They created their sustainable hubs focusing on different themes and choosing personal approaches: a "warm box" to recycle cloths, plants and flowers to make gardens and balconies more beautiful, artwork exhibitions promoting the respect for wildlife and gender equity, a photographic exhibition inspired by the global goals. In this picture book you can find some images of our students' creations.

A "warm box "- Amberley Primary School, New Castle UK

The Year 4 children created a “Warm Box” for the playground. They filled it with old scarfs, gloves and hats so that children could borrow warm clothes if they didn’t have them and were cold in winter! Also, we have been upcycling old school uniforms. We have boxes of uniforms at the front of school for parents to pick up if they need it.

Our sustainable school - Szkoła Podstawowa nr 2 w, Rydułtowach Poland

Polish students have prepared sustainable posters that they will display  in the school corridors in combination  with the photographs of our students. This way the whole school will become a sustainable hub in which teachers and students can get inspired by sustainable goals.

Nature and Sustainability - Primary School of Voutes, Greece

In our school 🏫 we created three sustainable hubs. One roof garden,  one balcony garden with vegetables and one garden with herbs 🌿.  Our children come in touch with the natural environment around us , near to Mediterranean 🌊. They learned how to create from nature, respect it for the goods which it provides and to be grateful for our green surroundings.  "Let's do our school green" is our moto.

Art and Sustainability - Mustafa Üstündağ Ortaokulu

Since the beginning of our Erasmus Hub project, which we created in our school, it has been updated and renewed. It has become an area where we both promote project activities and emphasize the Global Goals. Making many images from recycled material has always been our priority. The themes that our students work with in the Technology Design course throughout the year, blended with the curriculum, constitute the main goals of our What a Wonderful World project. In addition to the materials used, the themes covered also draw attention to Global goals such as love of the environment and nature, sustainable education, sustainable health, clean energy, and health for all. We wanted to emphasize the necessity of art education while preparing education programs for children and adults of all ages, in all segments of society, of QUALIFIED EDUCATION, one of the global development goals. Art is an important and easily applicable, effective tool in the implementation of quality education programs. For example, in the acquisition of scientific concepts, it ensures that the gains are made permanent. Since it makes learning fun and is a student-centered approach, it is effective in perpetuating the individual's desire to learn. We would like to thank our teacher Nihal Açık, who gave us strength with her support throughout this process.

Inspiring Women - IC IV Stanziale

This activity was inspired by the Global Goal n.5 of 2030 Agenda “Gender Equity”, and was aimed to bring to the attention of our students the life and achievements of some female characters in the international scene: from Frida Kahlo to Margherita Hack, from Coco Chanel, Malala. For this activity several innovative approaches were combined. Inquiry based learning was used to carry out research on the chosen characters, Story Telling to explain their role and legacy. This project was an opportunity to promote multilinguism so the articles were written in the four languages taught in our school: Italian, English. French and Spanish. Digital skills were promoted and developed by creating for each character a dedicated e-book by using the app Book Creator, as well as a series of QR codes that once scanned, lead to each e-book. Tinkering techniques were used to create artwork with recycled materials representing the chosen female characters as well as to build a green wall hosting the portraits and the corresponding QR codes. This interactive art creation is now available to all our students. Over time it will be a living hub, where our students will be able to share knowledge, feelings and thoughts about inspiring women and their legacy. Thanks to students from classe 3A and 3B and their teachers for this great work.
