Our mission at Stanford Emergence is to catalyze entrepreneurship to improve health outcomes through preventive and inclusive innovation. Established three years ago by a group of entrepreneurs and Stanford faculty, Emergence aims to redefine the health innovation ecosystem with a focus on prevention and inclusion. We saw firsthand how the healthcare system’s reactive approach was failing millions—particularly the most vulnerable populations. This underscored the need for a new model that addresses the root causes of chronic illness, including inequitable access, food insecurity, behavioral and social challenges, and environmental factors.
With the unparalleled entrepreneurial talent and resources of Silicon Valley, combined with the world-class research at Stanford University, we have a unique opportunity to lead and inspire a health innovation ecosystem centered on holistic health and preventive medicine. At Emergence, we develop a pipeline of high impact innovations and a collaborative ecosystem that supports the scaling of ventures through the three pillars of our program: education, research, and translation. Today, Emergence offers several programs, including the BioE 375 Course, a Student Accelerator, and a newly launched Faculty Collaboration Program, fostering a collaborative community across industry, investors, and academia.
We welcome DCI Fellows to explore opportunities for collaboration and support including but not limited to:
Mentor entrepreneurs in our course “Biodesign and Entrepreneurship for Societal Health” – estimated 2 hours during Winter Quarter.
Mentor entrepreneurs in our “Student Accelerator Program” – estimated time 2-10 hours during Winter and Spring Quarters.
Provide strategic advice and collaborate in growing the Emergence Program – TBD based on expertise, project and availability of Fellow.
Please use this form to indicate your interest in collaborating with the Emergence Program and someone from our team will follow-up to schedule a conversation.
