What a Wonderful World | Be Here Now
“I hear babies cry | I watch them grow | They'll learn much more | Than I'll ever know | And I think to myself | What a wonderful world | Yes, I think to myself | What a wonderful world | Ooh, yes”

What a Wonderful World | Be Here Now
How might you intentionally take care of you to ensure that you can be fully present for your students and colleagues?
Let's get right to the honest truth. Teaching is hard work. You probably feel completely exhausted right about now. You're not alone. It is important to remember that the teacher across the hall from you who has been teaching for ten years, your mentor teacher or anyone else you interact with on the daily spent years of intentional practice, training and reflection to get where they are today. Try not to compare your progress to anyone. You're exactly where you should be! This month's theme is all about using some intentional strategies to be present and in the moment for our students.
Here is the second truth. Our behavior can influence the behavior of our students. Learning to be in the present moment, without passing any judgment on it, can really boost our resiliency. Being in the moment helps us to honor and accept our present circumstance maintaining clarity in our thinking to weigh our options for responding. We can take that realization and find tiny points of light to help us remain grounded, even when all we want to do is fly far, far away. If our emotions influence the emotions of our students, we should make it a point to be intentional about tending to our own emotional self-awareness. When you put your health and wellness first, you're really putting your students first as well.
Check out the resources for the month of October listed below. We hope you can find some new strategies to help you "Be Here Now" and to find humor even when things are really tough.
