Winter Olympic Celebration

Opening Ceremonies

Welcome to the 2018 St. Patrick School Winter Olympic Opening Ceremonies! The goal of this six week long celebration is to celebrate and share global cultures and customs through art, history, science, music, dance, food, and sport. We will take this time to enrich our learning about the many different nations of the world as they come together for the 2018 Winter Olympics. Today is just the beginning, this is the start of what we have learned. Over the coming weeks, we will will learn about and participate in events like speed skating, bobsledding, hockey, and cross-country skiing in physical education. Classes will learn cultural dances. Grades 4 & 5 will host a Living Museum of Famous Olympic Athletes Our Early Childhood students will have an Olympic Festival. On March 1st, all are invited again to our Closing Ceremonies Festival. Middle School will demonstrate their winter sport experiences they created. Classes will perform cultural dances learned. Thank you to the band for playing today!

Studying the Countries of the World

Every student designed and painted a flag from the country that their class is studying. Each class then created a hallway display about the culture and customs of the countries across the world.

Middle School Olympic STEM Sport Challenge

Middle School students were challenged to design a new Olympic sport. Showing creativity, collaboration and critical thinking to communicate a new idea is integrated into all we do! Students had to design, build and present the game to the "Olympic Committee" via a video submission. The four winning games were presented at the Closing Ceremonies while the school cheered the student on!

Closing Ceremonies

Welcome to the 2018 St. Patrick School Winter Olympic Closing Ceremonies! Almost six weeks ago we met to kick off this celebration of global cultures and customs through art, history, science, music, dance, food, and sport. In addition to our regular curriculum, classes took time to enrich learning experiences and study about the many different nations of the world as they came together for the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea. Just as the Olympics ended this past weekend, we too end our celebration today. Yet, the learning experiences about cultures will last a lifetime. A Japanese fan dance, counting in German, or Middle School will demonstrate their winter sport experiences they created. Classes will perform cultural dances learned. Thank you again to the band for performing the Olympic theme for Parade of Nations!
