December 4 - Advent Kindness Coins - #SPSKindnessCoins

I am excited about our new kindness campaign for the Advent season. Today, each student received five St. Patrick School Kindness Coins. The goal is to hand out one coin per week for the four weeks of Advent and into Christmas week to someone outside of the SPS community. The coin can be given to a person that is doing something kind. Our goal is to spread smiles and kindness in our community. After a student hands one out, please they can go to our Facebook page and post when, where and why he/she handed the coin out using the hashtag #SPSKindnessCoin. I am so excited about our new kindness coins being shared during this season of preparations for the birth of the Lord!

December 3 - First Week of Advent

ADVENT is here! Let us prepare our hearts for the coming of the Lord.

Presence of God - The Lord is coming; I place myself in His presence and go to meet Him with all the energy of my will.

"The Name of the Lord cometh from afar.... I look from afar, and behold I see the power of God coming.... Go out to meet Him and say, 'Tell us if You are He who shall rule....'" These words are taken from today's liturgy, and in reply it invites us, "Come let us adore the King, the Lord who is coming!..."

The coming was expected for long ages; it was foretold by the prophets and desired by all the just who were not granted to see its dawn. The Church commemorates and renews this expectation with each recurring Advent, expressing this longing to the Savior who is to come.

Let us light the first purple candle today and pray. The first candle signifies HOPE.

December 2 - Fruit of the Spirit for December - Joy

Joy is the natural reaction to the work of God, whether promised or fulfilled. Joy expresses God's kingdom—His influence on earth (Romans 14:17). Joy is the natural reaction to the work of God, whether promised or fulfilled. Joy expresses God's kingdom—His influence on earth (Romans 14:17). During this season of Advent, let us prepare by finding the joy of the season!

Here is a 2 minute video the students watched to refresh us all on the meaning of Advent.
