REFLECT AND PRACTICE
Read: For those using the book, read Chapter 10: “Putting It All Together: Developing a Rule of Life,” pp. 149-165.
Reflection: There are three basic categories of questions to reflect on in choosing disciplines/practices for your rule of life: What am I deeply attracted to or deeply repelled by, and why? Where do I feel God calling me to balance or stretch my spirit? What practices best fit my circumstances or season of life? See Soul Feast, p. 160.
Practice: Look through the “Examples of Personal Rules” on pp. 151-153 of Soul Feast. Which of these described are most attractive to you and why? How might they inform the way you would want to develop your own rule? Write your own “Rule of Life”; commit to it. Seek support from your faith community, friend, or someone you can trust to pray for you and share your spiritual journey. For an additional resource to help guide you in this process, see You Tube Video, “Creating a Rule of Life”.
