REFLECT AND PRACTICE
Read: For those who have the book, read Chapter 5: “Reclaiming Sabbath Time: The Sacred Art of Ceasing”, Soul Feast, pp. 69-80.
Reflection: What is your understanding of the meaning of Sabbath? Why has this been so important to our religious tradition? How might your life change for the better if you moved to a different or sacred rhythm? Take five minutes to fill in the following open ended sentences;
I enjoy life most when…
I am most at peace…
I am aware of God’s presence…
Ask: What do my responses tell me about the kind of Sabbath time I most need? Follow up with: What prevents me from taking it?
Practice: See “Reshaping Attitudes and Habits”, pp. 75-78 in Soul Feast, for some suggestions to help us make choices to reshape our attitudes around Sabbath.
