Conference Theme

Protect, Defend, and Preserve Peace

The narrative that interactions with foreign states are characterized by violent actions is predominately accurate. However, this year’s conference theme encourages and empowers delegates to put forward their creativity, knowledge, and most importantly their passion to concoct and lead lively debates in their committees with themes that underlie the importance of preventative diplomacy, peaceful resolution, and foreign policy. The illuminating discussions as an outcome of the conference will exhibit the possibility for individuals of different backgrounds, identities, and beliefs to put global issues before their own, hold institutions accountable and collectively advocate for change.

Protect, Defend and Preserve Peace encapsulates the many intricate and nuanced objectives intended by the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. While each goal aspires to deal with different problematic aspects of society, they all require acting in solidarity with others and urgent implementation of change. The foundational value of this conference’s mission of peacebuilding and keeping is the cultivation of an environment where delegates take the initiative to stay vigilant to societal problems, starting with their own community.

Delegates attending SEASAC MUN this year will have the opportunity to discuss crucial solutions for problems in the past, present, and future that have changed and have the potential to change the course of the future. The many skills delegates will take away from this conference — leadership, critical thinking, and cooperation — act as fundamental prerequisites for delegates confronting diminutive as well as extensive challenges later in life and building a brighter future for all.
