The yearbook is a student created professional publication that celebrates DVMS students and documents the events of our school year. Through photography and writing students create a lasting legacy and memory for the entire school.
Yearbook students get to:
Push into classes and attend fun school events to photograph students. The entire campus is our classroom!
Write engaging captions to further tell our story.
Work as a team to create an amazing book that gets printed hundreds of times.
Meet all deadlines according to our publishing commitments.
Bring their creative and fresh ideas for covering topics and events of the year.
Interview and meet a wide variety of students and staff.
Celebrate our hard work and successes.
Students will learn:
Communication, leadership, time management, problem solving, team building, public speaking, writing, photography, design, publishing software.
This class is a bit like having a real job - everybody has their own tasks and resonsibilities. Students will learn to resolve problems and obstacles in a fun, supportive environment.
Take a leadership role uniquely and creatively! Each student in the class is assigned about 4-5 pages to complete. They do everything for those pages from getting photos to doing the writing (captions, etc.) Students also do 2 additional photo assignments - one for an event that happens after school (dance, sports,....) and one for an event that happens during school (spirit days, lunchtime activity,....). Most students are assigned an academic subject to cover and for those assignments, you go into classes to get the photos and do the writing. It is a really fun and rewarding class but we do work hard to do a good job!
Application process will happen during E+T
Attend an E+T on either 1/15/25 or 1/17/25 in the library. Here you will be observed doing a group activity and complete an application during this session. You DO NOT need to attend both days, please choose one.
