This yearlong course is designed for seventh and eighth-grade students interested in developing their public speaking skills by learning techniques and tricks to boost confidence.
Students will work both collaboratively and independently. They are expected to participate actively and consistently in class.
Students will practice critical thinking, thesis development, and delivery skills in a supportive environment. This course provides opportunities to analyze professional and amateur performances, set personal goals, and gain essential experience speaking in front of an audience both formally and informally.
No prior experience with public speaking or Speech and Debate is necessary.
In 1st Semester, we use our speech and debate skills through a Government lens.
2nd Semester, we focus on Business. This is a Project-based Learning approach, with rubric grading tools to assess student progress.
