Aims of the programmes
To reduce the waste at the landfill and in turn the Greenhouse Gases that these waste produced during their decomposition.
To reuse our waste by upcycling/downcycling.
To nurture our students' responsibilities as citizens.
Clean Beverage Cartons Recycling Programme
Greenhouse Gas is emitted when papers decompose at the landfill. This programme aims at reducing the papers sent to the landfill so as to reduce the Greenhouse Gas emission.
A recycle bin provided by Vitasoy International Holdings Limited to collect clean beverage cartons is placed outside the Balcony on 2/F. An online talk and other educational materials will also be offered by this company. The collected cartons will undergo recycling/upcycling processes to become useful materials.
The recycling data
The total collection volume from January to July 2024: 12 kg
The total collection volume from January to May 2023 : 12 kg
The total collection volume in 2022 : 19 kg
The total collection volume in 2021: 11 kg
Glass Container Recycling Programme
The School has signed the Glass Container Recycling Charter with the Environmental Protection Department. The Glass Container Recycling Programme has been launched with the aim of raising students' awareness on glass container recycling and drive behavioural change towards practising source separation and clean recycling of waste glass containers so as to cultivate good recycling habits.
The recycling data
On 2 Jan 2024, 53.6 kg of glass containers were collected by Baguio Green Group.
In 2022-23, we recycled 108 glass containers.
In 2021-22, we recycled 150 glass containers.
Ink Cartridges Recycling Programme
This recycling programme is organized by Canon, Hongkong, Co. Ltd. They will come to collect the ink cartridges we collected for further recycling processes. Reduce your printing is a good alternative in environmental conservation.
Rechargeable Batteries Recycling Programme
The rechargeable batteries that we collected will be sent to the organization designated by the Environmental Protection Department for their further handling. Replace your primary batteries with rechargeable ones from now on!
On 3 Nov 2023, 3.5 kg of rechargeable batteries were recycled by Green@Community.
Plastic Recycling Programme
Greenhouse Gas is emitted when plastic items decompose at the landfill. This programme aims at reducing the plastic items sent to the landfill so as to reduce the Greenhouse Gas emission.
Plastic items are collected according to the materials that they are made of. Plastics 1 & 2 (PET & HDPE) collected are collected by our partners. The plastics will be recycled into their own raw materials. The production of new PET and HDPE are therefore reduced. Plastics 3, 4, 5, 6 & 7 (PVC, LDPE, PP, PS & OTHER) collected are sent to our contractor for their subsequent handling. Lids of the plastic bottles are reused by our Home Economics Department to make pin cushions.
On 6 Feb 2024, 3.56 kg of PP and 3.0 kg of OTHERS were collected by Baguio Green Group.
On 2 Jan 2024, 8.82 kg of PET was collected by Baguio Green Group.
On 3 Nov 2023, 10.3 kg of PVC, LDPE, PP, PS & OTHERS was recycled by Green@Community.

We are delighted to work with Dreamcubics 3D Printing Ltd. for the up-cycling of our PET (No.1 recycling bin) plastics. These plastic items will be turned into rPET filaments which will then be converted into desirable products using 3D printers. This up-cycling process can continue for these products in the future. We will also donate the HDPE (No.2 recycling bin) plastics to Dreamcubics 3D Printing Ltd. for their research. It is hoped that rHDPE filaments can be produced in the future.
