Leadership 30L (LEA30L) **NEW**
Leadership 30L supports students in addressing mutual concerns for well-being and applying decisions for individual, family, community, and environmental leadership. Based upon the K-12 aims of health education and career education, the aim of Leadership 30L is to develop confident and competent students who understand and appreciate and apply leadership knowledge, skills and strategies throughout life.Â
Religions of the World 30L (ROW30L) **NEW**
This course is a preliminary study of the nature of religion, as well as the major concepts and practices of various Canadian Indigenous cultures, Eastern religions, and Western religions. It culminates in a study of the connection between religion and modern society. Students must be open-minded and approach the course with a spirit of inquiry. It is highly recommended that students be self-motivated and self-directed learners, with the goal of becoming better educated about religions around the world.
Mental Wellness 30L (MWL30L) **NEW**
Mental Wellness 30L engages students in developing a deeper understanding of self, relationships, personal agency and informed decision making. Learning to make sense of the world around them, nurturing a healthy self-concept and developing a strong sense of mental wellness are important for all students.
Students will learn the importance of mental wellness with the goals of:
creating balance socially, mentally, physically, spiritually, and emotionally
improving resiliency
increasing awareness of strategies and resources for positive mental health
reducing the stigma associated with mental illness.
Students will develop an understanding and connection between mental wellness and available supports. They will demonstrate an understanding of targeted mental health disorders and their psycho-anatomical structures, social responses, effective interventions, cultural implications for interventions, community resources, and a personal management plan.
