MODIFIED COURSES
Modified courses are available in all core subject areas: English, History or Indigenous Studies, Science and Math.
Please speak to a counsellor if you would like more information.
In Grades 10-12, students may be provided the option to take a modified course. This decision is based on evidence, which may include standardized assessment(s), teacher observation and/or prior interventions, and through consultation with teachers, counselors and families. This decision may impact post-secondary pathways, so careful consultation with a counsellor is required and a level-change form must be signed. Courses are based on separate curricula, but instruction and assessment may be provided in split-class situations (1-2 students taking a modified class in a regular class).
Courses that are modified are indicated with an 11, 21 or 31 course level code. For example:
MTH11 is modified math at the Grade 10 level
ESC21 is a modified Environmental Science 20 and
HIS31 is a modified History 30.
