This course is offered for students who are new to English Language learning. Students will learn the basics of English through practicing reading, writing, speaking and listening. Passing this class will result in a credit.
In these courses, students will build on the English skills they have previously developed. The focus for this course is to strengthen academic English abilities before entering regular English language arts classes. Learners practice reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. Students can earn a credit for these classes.
These classes are designed for English Language Learners who want additional support in their other subject areas. Students will receive one-on-one help with their homework, often leading to better understanding and higher marks. They receive valuable extra time to focus on their studies. Students do not receive a credit for the class.
These courses have the same outcomes and themes as the regular English and History courses. However, only English as an additional language students will be in the class, allowing the teacher (an EAL specialist) to use instruction and assessment strategies more appropriate for the English language learner. Students earn a regular ELA and HIS credit for each course upon successful completion
