This is an introductory course for any instrumentalist interested in jazz! No previous jazz experience is necessary.

This course is an excellent opportunity to broaden your musical horizons. Jazz harmony and theory provide the fundamentals to understand and play all styles of contemporary music (pop, rock, country, R&B, etc.). To anyone looking to become a stronger, well-rounded musician, this course will challenge you and help build confidence.
Learning will be experiential through small groups with a focus on improvisation and jazz chords, and increase your skills and confidence as a solo singer and singing with a band.
Students should be enrolled in Choir at the same time to register.
No previous jazz experience is necessary, though previous music experience is an asset.

This course offers students who are artistically advanced and intend to take the Advanced Placement Studio Art 30 in the following year.
Emphasis will be placed on establishing an understanding of the AP Studio Art requirements, reaching the level of quality that is expected, and completing a body of work to initiate a Drawing, and 2D or 3D Design portfolio.
Students interested in AP Studio Art 30 will be expected to do extra work outside of school to assist them in achieving the necessary volume of work.

Students learn how artists act as "agents of change" and how to manage a full-scale creative project from vision to reality.

Visual Art 30 is intended for committed art students who wish to advance their skills and design repertoire.
Canadian art history and art criticism will be explored in an in-depth manner, and students will participate in regular class critiques.

Visual Art 30 (VAR30P) - Semester 1
This enrichment opportunity is intended for highly motivated and independent senior artists who are passionate about art-making and would like to work towards a university or college-level credit in art. The AP curriculum is based on the requirements of a first-year university studio art course therefore, projects and pace will reflect this. Students will compile a portfolio in one of the following areas: Drawing, 2D Design, or 3D Design, and portfolios will be graded at an external evaluation by the College Board in May.
Studio Art 30 (VAR30L) Semester 2
This course is designed to meet the needs of Advanced Placement for Studio Art students who are completing a portfolio for submission to the College Board in May. Students will be completing the Concentration section of their portfolios, organizing the final senior exhibition, creating their own website, and spending two weeks working with a local professional in their field of choice.
