About Tier 2 Reading
I am so lucky to be working with your child this year in RTI. RTI stands for Response to Intervention. I service children based on scores on the i-Ready and the DIBELS reading assessments. Once in RTI I meet in a small group with students for 40 minutes twice a week. Each child has individualized goals, and during RTI we focus on reading strategies that will help your child meet their grade level goals.
Building Growth Mindset
In RTI I am not only trying to help your child become a stronger reader, but also build positive growth mindset to help them succeed in all areas both inside on out of school. When met with an obstacle many times our first instinct is to give up and use a fixed mindset, "I can't do this, I am not smart enough, This is too hard." By teaching students to think differently using a positive growth mindset I am encouraging them to look at something difficult as a challenge that they can overcome and learn from.
