While reading have your child look for words with beginning blends from the chart below.

I have also included some other Easter books on your child's EPIC library that they can listen to, and 2 Easter craft books you can try with materials you have at home (Check out the Easter chick I made with my daughter Aurora at home). I would love to see pictures of anything you create!
If the weather cooperates I have included a fun back yard scavenger hunt you can do at home.

Play the Magic E Game. Just print out the game board and grab a dice. Use coins, buttons, or anything you have at home for game pieces. Put your piece on start. Roll the dice and move your piece to the corresponding space. Read the word on the space. If you can can read the word you stay on the space, if not go back to where you were. The first player to the end wins.
If you have the materials at home try to make your own Sneaky E Puppet and write magic e words on it.
This week you can:
Go on EPIC and read Beth's Basketball Game .
Watch the vowel team videos.
While reading have your child look for at long a vowel team words words within the book (play/ game). Have your child tell you the letters or "chunks" working together to make that long vowel sound. You can even point out how the word team uses the ea to make the long e sound. You can use the old teaching tool "the first one does the talking the second does the walking."
While reading you can pick words and sort them based on whether they make the long or short vowel sound.
After reading write and illustrate the sentence I like to play _____________.

Summer Reading Ideas
I hope you enjoy the nice weather and have lots of fun, but don't forget to read, read, read. Below I have linked some great book lists to look at over the summer. If you do not have access to any of these books, or have gone through all the books you have at home most titles will have read aloud versions on YouTube you can search for. Happy Reading!
