SIMPLE VIDEO EDITING ON A SMARTPHONE
BEFORE YOU START: Download the FREE VideoShop App. You may also use iMovie or another video editing app. They all pretty much work the same way. These instructions will work with the free version.
BEFORE YOU START: Make sure you are in an area that the subject (person being recorded) will be well lit, preferably against a solid color background. If you don't have some sort of video lighting, you can use a regular lamp.
BEFORE YOU START: Also, make sure that there isn't a lot of background noise. For best results, use a smartphone lapel mic ($5-$10 at Walmart) that will connect to your device. If you don't want to spend money, it's ok!! Most smartphones' built-in mics work great and pick up very well.
STEP 1: Get ready to record your video. You can record using the camera on your device or from within the app. Either way, make sure it is switched to "video."
STEP 2: Set up your camera and have someone make sure you fit in the frame. You can also use your front camera so you can see yourself. Make sure you look straight at the camera. You can use a smartphone tripod ($5 at Five Below) or just lean your device against something sturdy, like a can of soup.
STEP 3: Once you have you camera set up, press RECORD. Get into place and wait 3 seconds (3... 2... 1...) and start speaking, acting, or whatever you are recording yourself doing.
Woo Hoo!! You have completed your recording. If your assignment is to only "RECORD," then you are finished and may upload your video. If your assignment says "RECORD AND EDIT" your video, or you would like to just try it out for fun to enhance your video, click to see how to EDIT your video in a few easy steps.
