The Collaborative Spirit of the 3DJox Club at Spring Woods High School is on display in the form of a new mural for the school. Teacher, Katie Cunningham, is expected to reveal the new tiger mural at the opening of Shrek! The Musical at SWHS! We can't wait to see this project in person!
Who doesn't love recieving accolades for their hard work? Families, teachers, and fellow artists were encouraged to write fan letters to their favorite artists at the SBISD Rodeo Open House. These fan letters are already in the interoffice mail system, on their way to campuses to be distributed. This activity defintiely helps to stretch the Moral Compass of our students, as they share compliments and encouragement with each other.
Memorial Senior High School student, Alina Du's magnificent sculpture is moving forward to ANOTHER round of judging at The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. You can see her Limitless Curiosity on display in the Hayloft Gallery at the rodeo this year. Her work is not alone at the rodeo... we have 21 pieces staying at the Hayloft Gallery this year!
No, it's not a piano! These are our NEW DISPLAY BOARDS! When you order boards through our form, linked here, you will notice that they must be ordered in groups of 12. This is because there are 12 panels per cart. You don't have to use them all! When they are delivered, the warehouse will help you set up what you need, and you will need to find a safe place to cover and store the rest while you are using them. This procedure will help us keep our four carts of panels organized, safe, and undamaged. We suggest talking to your principal about the best location for these panel carts while not in use.
Thank you to everyone who participated in creating in the School Board Appreciation Month gifts. We hope these gifts serve as a reminder that supporting the arts means supporting Every Child in SBISD! Thank you to every student and teachers who worked hard to make this project a success. The board members (and Dr. Blaine) loved these wonderful gifts!

Mustachio and I won a grant to bring back the SBISD Sandcastle Competition, that our lovely Walton and Gardner started. This is the beginning of this project. We would like to see who would like to be involved in joining us on a trip to Galveston where teams of five students will compete to create the best sandcastle. ELEM, MS, and HS are invited. Errbody.
This is a water trip, so make sure you are water certified through your school and everything that entails. (It’s pretty easy.)
Please fill out this Google Form if interested. We are thinking Tuesday, May 14th.
Contact Christopher.McVay@springbranchisd.com or Rebecca.Mustachio@springbranchisd.com if you have any questions.

Well it is that time again. The Spring Branch Shimmy will be rolling past your school on Friday, April 12, 2024 between 8:30 am and 1:00pm. What is the Spring Branch Shimmy? The Shimmy is a pre-parade Art Car convoy that is made up of 8 to 10 art cars. The art car convoy will come to your school and stay for about 20 minutes and then leave to go to the next school. Students are invited to come and look at the cars up close and personal.
The parade takes place in the morning from 8:30– 1:00 and will give exact times soon. Please forward this to your principal and let us know if your school would like to participate in this year’s Spring Branch Art Car Shimmy Parade. We can only stop at 10 schools. If you are interested in being a stop, return this email and let us know ASAP. We would love to have you has a parade stop.
It is that time again - time for student art submission to "I Am Texas" Contest! The submission deadline is Tuesday, April 30. The contest is open to grades 2nd - 12th , the theme is "I Am Texas", and all media except photography and sculpture are accepted. (Digital art only open to high school students)
Would be a great opportunity for those students who did not get to have their Rodeo works judged at NRG!

The Fish Art Contest sparks the imaginations of students and provides valuable lessons about fish and the importance of conserving Texas' aquatic resources. Art, science, and creative writing foster a connection to the outdoors and inspire the next generation of stewards.
Student artists in Houston are asked to showcase their talents by entering the first annual City of Houston Solid Waste Management Department and HISD Truck Art Contest.
The City of Houston and HISD Truck Art Contest was created to promote the three R's, reuse, reduce and recycle. Our goal is to raise public awareness and support educational programming focused on recycling, reducing, and reusing. The winning entries will inspire Houston residents as they are displayed on the recycling trucks bringing Art and education around the city.
Grand Prize winners will have their artwork displayed on the side of City of Houston Recycling Trucks.
