BEARS
BEARS
November arrived with a touch of frost in the air, though the cold didn’t linger for long. The days have remained unseasonably warm for this time of year, much to the Bears’ delight. They made the most of the mild weather, even visiting nearby neighbourhood parks during in-service days.
Early in the month, we shifted quickly into preparing cards and gifts for our veteran partners at the West Kildonan Legion #30 and the Southern Chiefs’ Organization. Together, all of CC created more than 200 heartfelt cards and decorated a poster board with poppies. With staff support, the children also composed a thoughtful poem reflecting their understanding of Remembrance Day and the importance of peace.
Remembrance Day Activity
Shortly after the holiday, the Aurora Borealis lit up the night sky, sparking excitement and curiosity among the children. This inspired us to create northern lights–themed artwork with the Bears during art club. They also completed dotted flower pieces and watercolor feather art with guidance from our student, whose knowledge and insight into Indigenous art made the experience especially meaningful.

Board Game Club
Our board game club continued throughout the month as well, with children exploring new games such as Kerplunk, Operation, and a selection of card games. They enjoyed the friendly competition and gained valuable practice in both celebrating wins and handling losses with good sportsmanship.
As the month drew to a close, we began introducing holiday-themed crafts. The children shared ideas about gifts they might want to create, and we are excited to support them in making personalized presents for the important people in their lives. Planning for our holiday luncheon is also underway, with the children offering their input on the menu.
