The show centers on a fictional spelling bee set in the geographically ambiguous Putnam Valley Middle School. Six quirky adolescents compete in the final round of the Bee, run by three equally quirky grown-ups. Comedy and music is used to explore how hard it can be to be a kid dealing with the pressures of family, friends, school, love, and life during perhaps the most emotionally vulnerable time in our childhood. The show is interactive and includes audience participation. SPCPA's production will also feature a chorus.
