Appeal & Program Opt Out Process

Appeal

An individual (teacher and/or parent/guardian) has the option of requesting an appeal if they do not agree with the decision regarding student eligibility for the Instructional Intervention Program. An individual must request an appeal in writing to the child’s building principal. The principal will submit the appeal to the RTI District Committee for review. The committee will meet to review all documents and provide an opinion in writing regarding the eligibility of the student within 10 school days of the principal referral to the committee.

If an individual does not agree with the opinion of the RTI District Committee, they have the option to appeal in writing to the Superintendent of Schools within 5 school days of the committee’s notification.

Program Opt Out

For eligible students, a parent/guardian may request in writing to their child’s building principal to opt out of the instructional intervention program at any time.
