Crime Scene Investigation

Grades 4-8

The police department has called in your Crime Scene Investigation Unit to help them solve a mystery. You will need all of your forensic knowledge.They need you and your team to analyze the evidence and prove who the murderer really is!

Daily Schedule

8:00-8:30

Breakfast

Students who ride the bus will arrive in time to eat breakfast before beginning the day. Parents dropping off students should bring them to the front of their school.

8:30-8:45

Daily Engineering Challenge

Students will collaborate to solve a engineering design and construction problem using their critical thinking skills, teamwork, and creativity. These short challenges will start the day to help students get in an engineering frame of mind.

8:45-10:00

CSI Skills Challenge

What skills does your CSI Unit need to help the police solve this crime? You will learn about how CSI evidence is gathered and analyzed so that you can use your skills to bring the guilty to justice!

10:00-10:30

Recreation Time

10:30-Noon

CSI Skills Challenge

You will use your CSI skills to gather evidence, analyze it, and decide what it means to help solve the crime. You will need all of your observation and lab skills to solve this mystery!

Noon-12:30

Lunch

12:30- 1:30

CSI: We Can Engineer It!

You and your crime scene team need to analyze some samples from the crime scene. You need to dry them before you can analyze them, but your oven has quit working. Can you use your engineering skills to design and build a piece of equipment to help you before the samples go bad?
