Professional Development

All CISD teachers are required to obtain a minimum of 18 hours of flex time (and 6 of those must be Gifted and Talented hours) per school year. These 18 flex hours replace the three days prior to Thanksgiving that are governed by the District's professional development waiver.

Please be sure to review the required professional development for new employees, as well as the required trainings for your specific teaching assignment.

INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY COURSES

Instructional technology courses are offered all year round. These courses are required for all new hire teachers. The online courses include:

• Seesaw Basics

• Lightspeed Classroom Management

In addition, further professional development opportunities will be available throughout the school year. The Curriculum and Instruction department will send professional development catalogs via email with various opportunities to participate in trainings both online and in person.
