Google Workspace

What is it?

All Carroll employees and students have access to a Google Workspace account (formerly know as G Suite) provided by the district. This comes with Google Drive, as well as access to a variety of Google apps.

How to Access

Employees and students can visit drive.google.com to access their Google Drive account. Chrome is the recommended browser and is set as the default browser on student laptops.

Teachers

Employees will use their Carroll email address to log in to Google Workspace:

Username: FirstName.LastName@southlakecarroll.edu
Password: your district password (the same one you use for your computer, email, Skyward, etc.)

Students

Students will use their Carroll email address to log in to Google Workspace:

Username: FirstInitialLastNameLast3DigitsofS#@southlakecarroll.edu
Password: district password (the same one students use for their computer, Gmail, Canvas, ClassLink, etc.)

App Access

Walled Garden

The walled garden offers another level of protection for our PK-8 students. When using the Google Workspace apps, students can:

Only send emails within the district to teachers, staff and other students.
Only share files within the district to teachers, staff and other students.
Only make Google Sites that are visible to CISD staff and students.
Only view Google Sites created within our domain, southlakecarroll.edu.

default web browser

The majority of our district platforms and applications work better when using the Google Chrome web browser. Setting your default web browser to Google Chrome on your device will open links from emails and other applications directly in Google Chrome.
