Softball Season Ends

by Alicia Pralle

On October 5th and 6th, the Lady Raiders were supposed to go to Valperasio for districts. Weather did not agree with this, and the Thursday games were cancelled.

Instead, the Lady Raiders played Friday afternoon in Fairbury against David City. They lost the first game and had time to go have a team lunch at Runza. They got one inning of their second game and then it started to rain. The ADs decided to call off the rest of the games, so everyone packed up and left. Coach Schiebur and Coach Bent were talking to Raymond Central’s AD, so a few of the players decided to wait. One player stated, “I knew the moment I saw coach’s face, something was wrong.” We found out that other districts had made it a single elimination tournament, so because the Lady Raiders lost the first game, it disqualified the team from state.

Even though the Lady Raiders softball season ended earlier than expected, the team worked hard and got along very well. We look forward to seeing what they can bring to the plate next year.
