WHAT IS BOXBALL?
Boxball is a game that is similar to Kickball. There are two teams that play against each other and the highest score wins. It also goes by the name Mat ball.
HOW TO PLAY:
One team will start as the fielding team and the other will be the kicking team. One at a time, each student on the kicking team will kick the ball and run to first base when it is rolled to them.
There can be more than one person on any base at the same time.
Kicking students must run around the bases 2 times in order to score one point for their team.
The video gives a basic understanding of the game but all of the rules are on this page.
RULES:
If a player gets hit in the head with the ball they are not out.
If a player steps off the base they must run to the next base if seen by the opposing team.
How a player gets out:
If they get tagged with the ball they are out.
If they get hit with the ball anywhere lower than the shoulders then they are out.
If they kick the ball and it is caught before it hits the floor they are out. ( This also includes if the ball bounces off of the wall and is caught before hitting the ground.
3 Outs and the teams switch positions.
3 strikes and the student is out. ( the strike zone is in between the blue and green lines in the middle of the gym)
If the ball is kicked backwards it is considered a foul ball and must be rekicked. (all kicks must go past the "box", the blue and yellow lines that make up the kicking box)
The kicking team must keep their same kicking order each round and pick up with the last kicker that was up.

A Gator Ball.
4-6 gymnastics mats.
