At Southborough High School, we are committed to providing high-quality careers education and guidance for all students. As part of this, we welcome external providers to speak with students about the wide range of post-16 and post-18 education, training and employment opportunities available.
This statement sets out how education and training providers can access students to share information about technical education, apprenticeships, and other career pathways, in line with the legal requirement known as the Baker Clause.
All students in Years 7 to 13 are entitled to:
Learn about approved technical education qualifications and apprenticeship opportunities.
Hear from a range of local and national providers, including colleges, training providers, universities, and employers.
Receive information that supports them in making informed decisions about their next steps.
Opportunities for Access
We offer a variety of events and activities throughout the school year where providers can speak to students, including:
Careers Fairs (Years 9, 10 and 12)
Assemblies and talks from apprenticeship and college providers
Employer engagement events
Drop-down days and career-themed weeks
Work experience preparation sessions
Lunchtime or after-school careers clinics
We are happy to discuss additional opportunities for engagement as appropriate.
