Project Descriptions
The Very Hungry Caterpillars: we read Eric Carle's children novel The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Ross Burach's The Very Impatient Caterpillar. Students painted paper in shades of green, blue, and yellow for the caterpillar's body. Students used their tracing and cutting skills for ovals for the head and body, and used other drawing materials for the eyes, antennae, hair, and more.
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Alphabet: we watched the animated version of Bill Martin, Jr. and John Archambault's Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. Students used oil pastels for the letters of the alphabet. They could have wrote the alphabet in order or scrambled it around. We used watercolor paint to make our letters "glow" and construction paper for the coconut tree.
