Project Descriptions
Op Art T-Shirts: our first project students were introduced to the Op Art movement and looked at paintings by Bridget Riley and Victor Vasarely. Students created their own Optical Illusion using repeating patterns of lines and shapes, as well as contrasting colors. Students had the choice to use a t-shirt stencil and turn their drawings into a shirt.
Silhouette Value Paintings: artists learned about value, or the lightness to darkness of a color. Students created a monochromatic painting of their choice with a silhouette image.
Famous Painting Parody: artists were introduced to many famous artists and their artworks, such as Leonardo da Vinci, Vincent van Gogh, Salvador Dali, and more. Students were asked to make a parody of the famous painting using popular images from pop culture.
Perspective Zentangle Shapes: artists learned about 1-Point Linear Perspective and how to create boxes in the three points of view. Then, students had to create a minimum of 7 shapes going back into perspective. The tops of the shapes were completed in black and white zentangles while the 3D effect was completed with shading and gradient techniques.
