1) ECONOMIC EFFECTS OF POVERTY
Mass poverty leads to low national income, low per capita income and low standard of living. It also gives rise to high level of unemployment , underemployment and disguised unemployment. It is also responsible for low savings and investments. In other words poverty is responsible for underdevelopment and low economic growth.
2) SOCIAL EFFECTS OF POVERTY
Poverty is responsible for the divison of the society into rich and poor leading to class conflicts. It has lead to under nourishment , misery , hardship, and starvation. It has given rise to anti social activities like crimes, theft, gambling, extortion , hoarding, and blackmarketing. It has lead to anti national activities such as smuggling, drug peddling and terrorism.
