1.PRESSURE ON LAND :
The pressure of population on land is already high in India and is still rising due to growing population. In 1921 the density of population was 81 per sq.km and according to 2011 census it was 382 per sq.km.
2. GROWING UNEMPLOYMENT:
Rising population leads to rise labour force of our country which has aggrevated the problem of unemployment. According to planning commission 26.58 million people were unemployed during 1999-2000.
3. FOOD PROBLEM :
Increase in population has lead to decrease in cultivable land which has created shortage of food for human beings and fodder for cattle.
4. ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS:
Due to increase in population large number of people live in slums. Increase in population has also lead to deforestation resulting in degradation of natural environment by overusing natural resources in the process of production.
5. SOCIAL PROBLEMS :
Most of our cities are overcrowded and suffer from the problem of inadequate transportation.Supply of pure drinking water, sanitation, and housing. It also leads to anti social criminal activities such as robberies, drinking, gambling extortion, murders , black marketing, terrorism etc.
6. LOW CAPITA FORMATION :
Due to rising population a large part of national income is used in consumption and very little is available for savings and investment. Therefore capita formation tends to be slow.
