Project SOAR has developed a multi-pronged approach to outreach and recruitment:
Door-to-door canvassing & hosting 'SOAR Open Houses' + 'Cafecito Nights with SOAR.'
Partnering with HACLA service providers to better reach and support residents.
Attending and presenting at monthly Resident Advisory Council (RAC) and Community Coaches meetings.
Regularly attending community events across all eight housing sites.
Tabling at local high schools within our service areas.

The SOAR team regularly canvasses each housing community by completing door-to-door outreach and leafleting efforts to ensure that all residents are aware of the college counseling services available to them.
In order to deepen relationships on the ground and widen our reach, the SOAR team makes a concerted effort to develop partnerships with other direct service providers in the surrounding community and on the sites, such as the Boys and Girls Club, Summer Youth Employment Program, Legacy LA, Watts Empowerment Zone, and ROSS Program, among others. We also have trusted relationships with the RAC leaders and members at SOAR housing communities and continuously look to RAC members for insight on current resident needs and areas of opportunity.
In addition to regular outreach, Project SOAR staff also attend more than 25 community events throughout the year. Most recently, the team launched a series of “SOAR Open House” and “Cafecito Nights with SOAR” to share information with residents about the program.
