Mrs Proctor, Head of Drama

Welcome to Drama, Smithdon and my classroom! I am Mrs Proctor and have been teaching at Smithdon for the past 15 years. I love my job and my subject; the process of creating Drama and watching young people make progress and grow in confidence is wonderful. I am truly lucky to have a job where I get the opportunity to work with young people and share in their educational experience.

After completing my degree in Drama I went straight into a teacher training course, as I always knew that I wanted to be a teacher. As a student myself, I was exceptionally passionate and loved working in such an expressive and creative way during school. The Arts subjects are so incredibly important in helping to develop a child's education, the skills we work on in Drama are vitally important as we develop team work, confidence and really key communication skills.

At Smithdon we love working with students not only in the classroom but also through co-curricular activities and we stage an annual school production, as well as running a Drama club and participating in competitions such as the Hunstanton Drama Festival. All of the additional events are always lots of fun for staff and students, as well as proving to be excellent opportunities for students to get involved in technical aspects of the subject as well as performing.

Miss Brown

I am Miss Brown and am entering my 9th year of teaching. I am incredibly passionate about the Arts; I believe that the Arts can truly inspire and develop students to reach goals that they never thought possible.

Drama and dance allow for personable skills to be developed as well as analytical skills which enhance other areas of the curriculum. It is wonderful to see students becoming more and more confident within themselves and their work through the medium of the Arts.

I have a lot of experience in dance and will be offering this as a co-curricular opportunity for students to take part in and challenge themselves.
