This year we are involved in workshops that introduce the children to the work of William Shakespeare and some of his most famous plays. These include Macbeth, The Tempest and Romeo and Juliet. We will be exploring the themes and characters in the plays and will work on a performance piece that we can perform at the end of the project.
In our first session we have learnt about William Shakespeare, who he was and what famous plays he wrote. We then explored some of the themes of his play: love, anger, jealously and hate. We then created freeze frames based off of these themes and performed them to see if our peers could guess what theme we'd chosen.
This week, we focused on Macbeth. We looked at how we could create interesting and engaging freezes that depicted the battle between the Norwegians and the Scottish Rebels. These frames will form part of our Macbeth performance.
We also started to add music and narrators for dramatic effect.
