It seems like it has been so long since I have seen you...TOO long!
I have tried to teach you over the years just how important it is to be active and eat properly to be well. Even though our current situation makes that more challenging, it may be even MORE important than ever!
Each week I will be posting activities that you can try. You don't have to do these alone. Get your family involved (maybe it will help ease their stress, too!). When the weather is good, get outside - of course, make sure you have permission from your parent or guardian and stay away from others.
If you have any questions, send me an e-mail: rgabler@smasd.org
Tell me the following things:
Your favorite part of at-home learning or PE activity
Your least favorite part of at-home learning or PE activity
An activity you would have liked to do as a PE activity
Your plans for the summer to improve your health and fitness
The raspberry plants have taken root and are putting out their shoots!
With the cold spell past us, I was finally able to get the broccoli and brussels sprouts into the garden.
Peas, lettuce and spinach have all sprouted (but it will be a while before I'll be able to make a salad!).
Goldfinches!
Keep checking back...the great thing about gardens is that they are always changing!
No equipment needed!
This activity will 'count' for both Music and PE this week.
Please respond by Sunday, May 17th at 6:00 PM.
As always, make sure you have permission before you use any of Mom and Dad's stuff!!
Create a paddle using the spatula, tape and tray/plate.
Make a line 8-10 feet away from basket.
Underhand serve the sockball with the paddle so that it lands in the basket to score 1 point.
From 8-10 feet away, underhand toss or roll a sockball toward a basket on its side, trying to make it stand upright.
Score 1 point if the basket lands upright; score 3 points if it lands upright with the sockball inside.
You'll hear the theme throughout the lessons of your Specials. It's been a very different few weeks of school. However, there are still so many things for which we can be thankful!

(By the way, make sure you have permission before you use any materials from around the house.)
Create 2 lines 10 feet apart.
Step into the shoe boxes.
Slide to the line across from you to score 1 point.
Place 2 flat books 15 feet apart.
Use the insides of your feet.
Dribble the sock-ball to the book across from you and trap it with your foot on top of the book for 1 point.
Don't have a bottle to flip? Try this activity instead:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJuYFFKyoew&feature=youtu.be
It's simple: Land as many flips as possible in 1 minute (you'll need a timer handy). Earn 2 flips for every 3 jumping jacks you complete. (Watch the video for a demonstration - I'm not very good at flippin' though!)
You only have to post once during the week, but you may post once per day - so keep comin' back! I'll be posting my attempt every morning - see if you can beat me! (Use the stickers or topic line on flipgrid to show how many bottles you landed.)

The kids and I took the bikes for a 6-mile spin on Sunday, checking out the West Creek Recreational Trail.
My daughter and I went for a 9 (and a half) mile ride on the Clarion-Little Toby Trail on Wednesday.
