The 184-space Mobile Home Park was purchased by SLVHC in December 2022, through community partnerships and learning. SLVHC helped residents decide what they wanted their future to look like when they received notice in July 2022 that the park was for sale. After many meetings, in three languages, the residents decided they wanted local non-profit ownership. SLVHC and their funders (First Southwest Bank, Impact Development Fund, and the City of Alamosa) all worked quickly to help preserve the park.
*102 +/- Homeowners: Residents who own and maintain their mobile homes and only rent the land.
* 40 +/- Renters: Residents who rent homes from SLVHC or rent RV spaces
* 20 +/- Vacant Lots: Spaces available for new homes to be brought in either by new residents or SLVHC in the future
All residents, regardless of ownership, pay water, sewer, and trash, along with appropriate rent (home or lot space)
Future plans:
SLVHC will keep the park as a mobile home park for years to come. The goal will be to work with residents on park rules and regulations to determine if the residents wish to become a Resident Owned Community (ROC) in the future or if SLVHC will maintain ownership. While this is happening SLVHC will apply for grant funding to help make park improvements including, but not limited to, replacement of the sewer and water lines, replacement of uninhabitable park-owned homes, repair opportunities for resident-owned homes, replacement of the playground equipment, repair of roads, and more. We will determine what projects are needed and their priorities by continuing to listen to our residents during meetings and by setting up a resident group. Our goal is to make Century Mobile Home Park everything the residents wish it to be.
To apply for housing, please visit the SLVHC Office at 513 La Due Ave., Alamosa, during normal business hours. Please see the Contact Us page for more information on how to reach us. Applications can also be found on the Forms page.

Xcel will begin disconnecting gas at vacant units on June 1st, 2026. You will see Xcel staff in units over the next several weeks until all 30 units identified for removal have been disconnected. This is only phase 1 of this process. We anticipate seeing the first 7 units removed this summer and are continuing to apply for the $30K +/- per unit removal funds through continued grant writing.
The removal of homes is expected to take multiple years due to funding requirements. Each home that is moved in Colorado must be asbestos tested, and if positive, must be abated before moving can take place. The cost of testing can be $900-$1,200. The cost of abatement is $5,000 to $45,000, depending on what is contaminated. The cost of removal is $5,500 to $10,000 if all rules are properly followed by the removal company. THIS RULE APPLIES EVEN IF YOU ARE ONLY MOVING YOUR HOME, AND IT WILL BE ON A STATE OR LOCAL ROAD.
A list of items needed on vacant lots has been completed as of June 1, 2026. Staff will work on these items throughout the summer. A list of occupied lots not meeting the standard will be notified in June with instructions to help them come into the expected standard.
