The San Leandro Unified School District Summer Internship program happens every year during summer school. It is a 5 week program that combines work based learning experience and coursework to prepare and guide students.
Local businesses participate to host interns over the summer where they complete internship hours. Along with their internship hours students are required to attend the Summer Internship 101 course.
Participating students will automatically be enrolled in the Summer Internship 101 Course where they receive school credit as well. Students will meet weekly either virtually or in person with their teacher of record for check ins, professional development activities, and an end of the summer presentation.
The end of the summer presentation is showcased at the SLUSD Work Based Learning EXPO. The Expo occurs at the end of the summer.
All students must complete both their internship hours and coursework to receive a stipend. If coursework or internship hours are not completed then no stipend is received.
