What is a Historically Black College?
HBCU'S NATIONWIDE
Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) are institutions of higher education in the US established before the Civil Rights Act of 1964 with the intention of primarily serving the African-American community. HBCUs offer all students, regardless of race, an opportunity to develop their skills and talents. There are 105 HBCU's across the US, 39 with Transfer Guarantees, and 1 in the state of CA.

How to Apply to An HBCU
Students can apply to an HBCU using either the Common Application, the Common Black College Application, or the Coalition Application.
HBCUs also host College Fairs where they offer admission to their campuses on the spot!
Common Application
Most HBCUs use the Common Application. The fee is between $35-70 for each college you apply to.
Common Black COLLEGE application
The CBCA allows you to apply to 68 member institutions for $20!
Coalition Application
Coalition for College member schools are united in their mission to support lower-income, under-resourced, and/or first-generation students in their journey to higher education.
HBCU College Fairs
HBCU College Fairs allow you to meet with representatives from HBCUs. Some colleges offer on-the-spot admission and full-ride scholarships to students who attend!
