CO Structure

• Gries Complex follows an RA Buddy System

• Each RA has a "Co"RA. 

• These are people that hold each other accountable throughout the semester

  • During: Opening and Closing, Health and Safety Checks, etc. 

• There are 2 RAs on every floor in Clemens Hall and Walsh Hall. 

• The Gries Tower pairs with opposite floor RAs for their Co's

• Ex. Floor 1 6 pairs with Floor 3, Floor 15 pairs with Floor 4, and so on. 

Committee Structure & Expectations

• Each RA in the Gries Complex generally serves on 2 committees per semester.

• The RHC/GHC's will assign RAs to committees based on preference.

• There are 6 total committees within the community. Below is an overview of each committee. 

RHA/Hall Council

• • Share updates/upcoming events or initiatives during weekly staff meetings as necessary

  • Attend Hall Council meetings 2x month

  • Support GHC's with offering inspiration and ideas

  • Help program shop for RHA

  • Help promote RHA/Hall Council events throughout the building

  • Suggestions on Events/other Activities:

    • Partnerships with community wide strategies

    • Halloween decorating contest

Student Advisory Board

• • Share updates/upcoming events or initiatives during weekly staff meetings as necessary

  • One student staff member to represent Clemens, Tower, and Walsh

  • Attend weekly meetings with Director, Manisha and Associate Director, Sam

  • Collect questions/concerns from weekly staff meetings

  • Advocate on the behalf of all Gries Complex student staff including PM’s and DW’s

Service Committee

• • Share updates/upcoming events or initiatives during weekly staff meetings as necessary

  • Regularly clean the laundry room [1x month or as needed]

Regularly clean the resource room [1x month or as needed]

• • Regularly clean the common kitchen area on Gries 4th floor [2x month]

  • Promote a community wide initiative of service as active strategy

  • Promote a community wide initiative of service as passive strategy

  • Suggestions on Events/other Activities:

    • Clothing drives

    • Food drives

    • Any sort of donations from residents

    • Partnership with B2B, Campus Kitchen, or other service organizations

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion

• • Share updates/upcoming events or initiatives during weekly staff meetings as necessary

  • Help lead out on the Tunnel of Oppression project

  • Provide educational videos/information during staff meetings

  • Partner with GHC on ideas and initiatives

  • Promote a community wide initiative as active strategy

  • Promote a community wide initiative as passive strategy

  • Suggestion of Topics to cover:

    • Cultural appropriation

    • Importance of pronouns

    • Celebrating Women’s, Black, Pride, Indigenous Peoples month + any other celebratory months for inclusivity

Social Media

• • Share updates/upcoming events or initiatives during weekly staff meetings as necessary

  • Promote the RA Takeover project

  • Post and community wide strategies

  • Share pictures from individual floor strategies

  • Share passive flyers/events

  • Share campus partner events

  • Suggestions/Ideas:

    • Challenges

    • Polls

    • Giveaways 

    • Resident spotlight

Staff Appreciation

• • Share updates/upcoming events or initiatives during weekly staff meetings as necessary

  • Rotate reading off the kudos shout-outs every staff meeting

  • Celebrate team birthday’s

  • Promote RA of the Month project

  • Celebrate student staff individual accomplishments [new internships, opportunities, family/life updates, etc]

  • Lead out on Facilities, Pro-Staff, Campus Minister, etc. Appreciation Weeks

  • Suggestions on Events/other Activities:

    • Assist GHC’s with staff bonding
