Description: The Diversity and Global Citizenship Learning Community (DGC) helps students to answer what it means to live in a global society by exploring the human experience. The students and faculty in DGC are passionate about social justice and inclusion on a local and global scale. The community participates in dialogues about identity, dinner with faculty, and workshops to further their understanding of diversity.
Recommended for: Students majoring in women's and gender studies, African American studies, American studies, sociology, anthropology, communication, economics, environmental studies, international studies, political science, and other arts and sciences majors. Open to all students.

Description: The Engineering and Innovation Learning Community (E&I) provides students with an opportunity to with others who share a commitment to the fields of engineering, technology, and flight science. This community is popular with first-year Parks College students and has a dedicated Maker Space on the residence hall floor, which includes tools such as a 3D printer, laser engraver, and robotics kits. This community also has a sophomore component for active participants who wish to continue in the community for a second year.
Recommended for: All students in the Parks College of Engineering, Aviation, and Technology.

Description: The Ethical Leaders in Business Learning Community (ELIB) focuses on the relationship between business and leadership characteristics. Students have the opportunity to learn from guest speakers, get hands-on experience through field trips, and take courses that connect personal interests and strengths with career goals. The community also utilizes a business Incubator space on the residence hall floor that assists students with entrepreneurial networking and mentoring.

The Leadership for Social Change LC (LSoC) challenges students to learn about social advocacy through relationship building, creative action, and the social sciences. Students learn how to identify, critique, and innovatively address underlying issues within community structures as a result of this learning community experience. Being involved in LSoC is a great way to build significant connections, meet passionate faculty, and become active in the city of St. Louis.
Recommended for: Students majoring in English, philosophy, theology, theatre, music, art history, studio art, foreign language, education, psychology, sociology, anthropology, and other programs in the Arts and Sciences. Open to all students.

Description: The Micah Program brings together faith, service, community, and academics. Working among people from many racial and ethnic backgrounds who live in neighborhoods near the University, Micah community members will perform three hours of service a week together at one of 13 sites. Micah students will also gather in small groups to support one another, reflect on experiences in class and at service, and share their faith. Many older student stay involved throughout their college careers, continuing their service, serving as mentors, leading retreats and small-group gatherings, and organizing Micah large-group service days and social events. The program offers an optional minor in urban poverty studies and has a sophomore component for students who wish to continue in the community for a second year.
Recommended for: Students must be accepted into the Micah Program to live in the Micah LC.

Description: The THRIVE: Black and Talented Learning Community is designed to support the successful transition of first-year participants to SLU. Students will deepen their cultural understanding and awareness of the black diasporic experience and develop the skills and tools to address institutional and societal change. The community engages in common courses and activities, as well as frequent dialogue with faculty, staff, and alumni to foster student learning and development.

Description: The Imagine Learning Community is a base for students who want to integrate the classroom study of the humanities with the exploration of careers paths and possible post-graduate experiences for humanities majors. The students and faculty in this community ask the big questions: what is a good life? how can beauty and creativity foster a more just society? And they find out how the answers can lead to fulfilling professions and vocations. Students will interact with distinguished writers visiting campus for the annual St. Louis Literary Award; see how historians put their skills to work in the Jesuit Archives and Research Center; and engage with faculty research and projects. One of the main goals of this Learning Community is to create a welcoming intellectual and residential experience for first-year students interested in the Humanities.
Recommended for: This LC is open to students of all majors.
